Welcome to My Special Education AQ Portfolio
Purpose of This Portfolio
The purpose of this portfolio is to share my learning throughout my Special Education Specialist course, including my reflections, classroom experiences, and research. I want this space to serve as a living record of how my thinking evolves, how theory connects to practice, how new strategies take shape in my classroom, and how I continue refining my approach to supporting diverse learners.
This portfolio is not simply a collection of assignments. It is a place to explore questions, challenge assumptions, and articulate the values that guide my work in special education. My goal is to create a resource that captures both my learning and my growth as an educator committed to inclusion, accessibility, and dignity.
Intended Audience
I hope this portfolio will be meaningful to several groups:
- Educators and colleagues who may find my reflections, artifacts, and stories helpful in their own learning
- Peers and mentors who may offer feedback, insights, or questions that deepen my thinking
- Future collaborators and employers, as a demonstration of my dedication, professionalism, and passion for supporting students with diverse needs
- My future self, as a reference point to see how my thinking, practice, and professional identity continue to develop
How I Intend to Use This Portfolio
Throughout my Special Education Specialist course, I will use this portfolio to:
- Document learning from readings, discussions, and assignments
- Reflect critically on my current practice and identify areas for growth
- Connect theory to action, especially in relation to UDL, IEP development, collaboration, and culturally relevant and responsive pedagogy
- Collect resources, strategies, and examples that I can bring back to my classroom
- Track my professional identity, noticing how my beliefs and practices shift over time
Beyond the course, I intend to continue using this portfolio as:
- A professional learning journal to support ongoing reflection
- A resource hub for strategies, templates, and tools I develop
- A showcase of my growth as I work toward roles such as SERT or administrator
- A living document that evolves alongside my practice and the needs of the students I serve
Ultimately, this portfolio is meant to support my long-term goal of contributing to inclusive, student-centered, and dignity-driven educational environments.
